December 10, 2011 A good time was had by all at our annual Christmas party ... hope you can join us next year! HAPPY, HEALTHY HOLIDAYS to you and yours!!
November 24, 2011 Happy Thanksgiving to all! Gary and I have so much to be Thankful for ... and we wish you and yours a very happy, healthy Thanksgiving surrounded by those near and dear! November 16, 2011 This really made us feel good to see Jeremiah in the papers (Houston Chronicle) this morning. He's a very good boy. They love and take very good care of him in the new Houston Police Department multi-million dollar facility (although like every other big city, budget cuts are looming so hopefully he'll keep his job)! We had purchased Jeremiah (thoro-shire) when he was a yearling as a companion for our colt Delmonico. Jeremiah really wanted a job so we donated him as a 3 year old to the Houston Police Department. Here he is, JEREMIAH the HORSECIFFER ... all grown up and on duty with Houston officer Randall Wallace. Photos: Houston Chronicle, Cody Duty /© 2011 Houston Chronicle.
November 2, 2011 Off to Great American Equestrian Center in Katy, TX to set up for the Regional Championships! Jan is flying to Boston tomorrow for the Hanoverian Breeder's Symposium with Dr. Ludwig Christmann (Germany) so Gary will hold down the fort at the (Region 9) Championships! Go Team Erika-West Dressage and good luck to all participants! November 1, 2011 Not just the horses got an award from USEF ... we're really honored. Thanks to our boys for doing so well this year! We hope to improve every year!
October 31, 2011 DD has arrived safely from Germany and Jody is thrilled to spend some time with her! A truly lovely filly with super movement and an in your pocket personality. BIG THANKS to Kareen Heineking-Schütte, DVM of German Horse Connection!
October 25, 2011 It is a small world. We bred DD (Dancier x Warkant (Perser xx)) in Germany and sold her as a suckling to Jody & Tony in Paris. Turns out that they will be relocating to Houston in the next couple of years so they are shipping us DD so she can grow up with her "sister" Royal Fortune (we imported her in November 2010 for our breeding program). Here's DD with Kareen getting ready to leave Germany in route for the airport. Her ETA at Walkabout Station is Monday! How exciting!! We liked this filly so much we were reluctant to sell her so we bred Wakaluba back to Dancier. DD will have a full sibling in 2012. Kareen said she was very good and loaded just like a big girl! October 21, 2011 CONGRATS to Erika-West Danque for doing so well with our boys!! USDF Materiale Horse of the Year awards: Chancellor WAS is 6th in the 4 & 5 Year old Stallion & Gelding Division with a 77.4%; Widget is 5th in the 3 Year Old Stallion & Gelding Division with 73.5%, followed closely by Sirius WS (who was only 6 weeks under saddle) with a 73.1%. WAY TO GO, TEAM WALKABOUT!!
October 15, 2011 We had a great time at the AHS Inspection. CONGRATULATIONS to Terri Wall whose mare, Genre R (aka Genie), was the high scoring mare for the MPTs and tied with our very own Fly High for High Point Hanoverian mare. Genie will stay with us on a mare lease to fulfill her Elite Mare requirements and is also eligible for the Hanoverian Jumper Breeding Program. Nine month old, Elianah WS, was a little stressed being stalled alone but she had the absolute best baby sitter. Mary Goldberg's stallion (yes, STALLION) Hermes was next to Eli and actually allowed Eli to eat hay from his mouth. We don't breed Fresians but if we did ... Hermes would be on our list!! What a good boy!! Special thanks to Karen Rentz for taking over photography duties for Walkabout Station!
October 3, 2011 CONGRATS to Lauren on her purchase of Delovely! We're very excited for Lauren who has been working with Delovely for several months and it's LOVE! Delovely will stay with us while she grows up ... another great partnership in the making!! September 5, 2011 BIG CONGRATS to Ashley who has purchased Donnacina's bun in the oven (San Amour x Donnerhall x World Cup I in-utero foal) which is due in January. Woo hoo!! She LOVES Donnacina and is so excited, she was in tears ... it's folks like Ashley that give us (breeders) the warm fuzzies! August 27, 2011 Erika and Chancellor were absolute champs ... and we couldn't be prouder! They finished 12th at the Nationals and we are so very happy for Erika for being invited two years in a row! To be 12th in the Country is something to be very proud of! CONGRATULATIONS Erika & Chancellor! More photos, please click here! August 25, 2011 Hmmmm ... note to self ... be sure to wipe inside of horses ears with bug spray! Duh!! One of the few advantages to living in a drought is we have few "bugs" where Illinois has had an abundance of rain (please share with Texas) and the bugs are EVIL! Poor Chancellor ... a bug got inside one ear about 1/3 way through his class and it really got his attention! BUT he's a trooper and the humans will get smarter! He finished 11th in the warm-up and we're very proud of him and Erika! August 24, 2011 Chancellor has passed the jog (left)!! Now the real fun begins!! Championship warm-up class tomorrow! August 23, 2011 Loving the rain!! Erika is doing a light warm up with Chancellor in the rain (right)! If we could only bring some of this rain home!! August 20, 2011 We're just about finished packing up the humans, next is the trailer and last will be Chancellor. We'll be heading out late tonight to try and drive thru the night (minimize the heat). Will go about 1/2 way (approx 9-10 hours) to Arkansas and then rest for the day. Head out again Sunday night and arrive at Lamplight Monday ... hopefully before rush hour! Then the real fun begins!! GO ERIKA & CHANCELLOR!! August 16, 2011 We love getting updates on our "kids!" This is Seltener Mond (pictured right) who is now 1-1/2 years old and growing up to be quite the handsome guy!! No pressure, Selten ... your 1/2 brother, Chancellor, has been invited to Lamplight! LOL We hope to be cheering you on in 2014!! Thanks for sharing, Sharon!! August 15, 2011 HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO JAN! What a great gift ... Erika-West Danque and Chancellor have been invited to Lamplight (Wayne, IL) for the 4 Year Old Young Horse Championships! We are SOOOO proud of them! What a fabulous team!! July 23, 2011 Erika-West Danque and 3 Yr Old Weltmeyer gelding, Widget WS, Windy Knolls Summer I Show 7/23/2011 - VERY hot day (103+ degrees)! 79.6% Materiale score - Widget's first show! BIG CONGRATS to Erika & Widget!! More photos of Widget - click here! June 29, 2011 Sirius just got a bath and is leaving to go into training with Erika-West Danque! Three years old and soooo handsome! Now both our boys are with Erika! June 27, 2011 More sneak previews: Juno (Sagnol) is 62 days in foal with a filly and Rosoenna (Harvard) is also 62 days in foal to a colt! As we've said many time before, all we hope for is a healthy foal with an easy delivery ... but we do enjoy getting these little sneak previews. If all the fetal ultrasounds prove to be accurate this year, we will have 3 boy and 3 girls coming in 2012! Click here to see what we have coming in 2012! June 26, 2011 Weaning time ... one of my least favorite times of the year. It always breaks my hearts to hear the momma's calling for their young 'uns. This year, we've moved the weaning pasture and have added the yearlings to the field for extra company. So Delovely and Royal Fortune are enjoying the new field with weanlings, Sir Walkabout WS and Elianah WS. June 20, 2011 EMC Ana Isabellah had a fetal sex ultrasound today and her Rousseau foal has been declared a COLT! Naturally, we will be happy with a HEALTHY foal, no matter the sex, but it is fun getting a sneak preview! June 18, 2011 Emee came out to spend some time with her colt, Sir Walkabout WS and give him a bath. He was really a good boy for his solo bath (mom stayed in the pasture). He's gotten so tall ... at 5-1/2 months old, he's already as tall as his owner! LOL Weaning time coming soon ... and he is sooooo ready! A few others patiently wait in this dreadful heat for their turn in the shower! June 12, 2011 Kareen and Alexandra took some of our mares and foals to show them off! Look at our little Fotogenic WS ... living up to her name, with her elegant mother, Wakaluba (who has been confirmed back in foal to Dancier)! Fotogenic is almost 2 months old and what a cutie!! Special thanks to Kareen for all she does, Alexandra for bathing, braiding and working her fanny off ... and to Mona Diekmeier for sharing her photos!
June 1, 2011 GREAT NEWS! Harvard frozen semen is now be readily available in the United States! It's excellent quality with confirmed pregnancies on one breeding dose. To order yours, contact David Burke or Jan Marquardt. HAPPY BREEDING (no matter what time of year)! May 12, 2011 We love getting updates on our "kids!" Here's Harbour Side (Hardy) who is a year old already! Isn't he handsome??!! His owners, Darlene & Channay of Country Lane Farm are raising him as a stallion prospect and say he is very well mannered, easy to handle, and has a great mind! Perfect recipe for a stallion, eh? Time will tell ... but I think his father (shown above right) has clearly stamped him! May 12, 2011 We're doing the "happy dance" today!
Both Juno (Sagnol)
and Rosoenna
(Harvard)
were confirmed pregnant today! We'll check in a couple of weeks for a
fetal heartbeat but so far, so good! Wahoo!! May 3, 2011 Good news and bad news. Good news first: EMC Ana Isabellah is pregnant! Wahoo! This foal (by Rousseau) should be stunning and we're very excited! Now the bad news: Dr. Steve Van Wagner searched and searched but alas, after we flushed Ninja, no (Bugatti) embryo. We're trying to decide if we want to try "one more time!" April 29, 2011 Always love it when Kareen finds the time to send updates and photos on our horses in Germany. Many thanks to Alexandra Fischer for the photos: April 29, 2011 Both Juno (Sagnol) and Rosoenna (Harvard) were bred today ... swimmers do your magic!! HUGE thanks to stallion owners, Jennifer Arnoldt http://www.dreamscapefarm.com/HorseDetail.aspx?ID=2 and David Burke http://www.pangaeafarm.com/harvard.html for being so efficient and capable of accommodating us (with mares) that did NOT "read the book" and were ready earlier than anticipated. Thank goodness, breeding season for us is almost done! April 27, 2011 Kareen called to say she bred Wakaluba back to Dancier ... fingers crossed for a black dot. We'd love to get another "blingy" chestnut filly like DD! April 26, 2011 Less than 48 hours after giving birth to her first foal, a beautiful chestnut colt by Contucci, Rhosa and her son, Con Dios were hit by lightning and killed. A senseless tragedy for which there is no rationalizing. Gary and I are absolutely heartbroken by the loss of our sweet, talented baby girl and her son. April 24, 2011 Happy Easter! What a wonderful gift we received today from Dolce Rhosa ... she blessed us in the wee hours with a picture perfect Contucci "colt" (oops, he was ultrasound fetal sexed a filly)! Doesn't matter, he's beautiful, he's perfect and he's healthy! First time mom, Rhosa, is doing great and thanks to Wendy Costello who helped us find the perfect name ... Con Dios (with God). April 21, 2011 BIG thanks to Kareen Heineking-Schütte, DVM of German Horse Connection and photographer, Alexandra Fischer for sending us these photos of Wakaluba's filly by Floriscount, Fotogenic, at 4 days old. April 20, 2011 EMC Ana Isabellah was bred to Rousseau this morning ... fingers crossed for a black dot in two weeks! April 19, 2011 CONGRATS to Emee on her purchase of Sir Walkabout. We're quite excited about this partnership. Emee is a talented, promising, ambitious athlete with great expectations ... we think they will be a great team! Walker will stay with us while he grows up! April 18, 2011 We had Miller Proof ultrasound (fetal sexing) this morning and her Stakkato Gold foal has been declared a filly! April 17, 2011 Our lovely mare, Wakaluba, blessed us with a beautiful, long legged, healthy black filly this morning in Germany sired by Floriscount. We couldn't be happier! April 15, 2011 Donnacina (Donnerhall x World Cup I) is in foal to San Amour (Sandro Hit x Plaisir), due in January was ultrasound (fetal sexing) as a "colt!" So far, we have one of each coming next year. So long as they're healthy, I'm happy! March 30, 2011 We're very excited ... we took EM Winessa in for her 60 day foal check (Benetton Dream) and everything ok, foal is active, healthy and growing nicely PLUS Dr. Steve said it's a FILLY. March 21, 2011 Our little boy is growing up ... Widget will be 3 years old on March 24th and is heading off to school ... he's going to Erika's to start training! March 11, 2011 We interrupted Juno rolling in the pasture to take some video of her colt, Sir Walkabout. He's 69 days old in this video ... very handsome and really nice movement!
Sir Walkabout (Sir Donnerhall II x Columbus) - 69 days old March 4, 2011 Good News! We took Miller Proof for her ultrasound this morning ... she was confirmed 14 days in foal to Stakkato Gold! February 27, 2011 We had to meet Dr. Steve VanWagner at his clinic with Donnacina so he could pinch a twin. This client patiently waited her turn until Donnacina's procedure was done. I think Donnacina was too drugged to recognize a camel but it made us chuckle. Fingers crossed that she hangs onto the 2nd San Amour embryo! February 26, 2011 Gary's daughter, Ashley, is 22 years old today! She was "jumping out of a plane" and watching the space shuttle Discovery from 11,000 ft under canopy ... whew, makes for a very memorable early birthday present! Very cool! HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ASHLEY! February 25, 2011 We checked
Donnacina (Donnerhall x World Cup I) a little early because she had a double
ovulation. Good news is ... she IS pregnant (San Amour). Bad news is
... twins! We will have to pinch one and hope she hangs onto the
other. Fingers crossed! February 20, 2011 Rosoenna (Rosier x Werner 007) is next to get her bath ... she's in foal to Donnerschlag and due the 22nd of March. We've waited a long time for our Donnerschlag foal so we're quite excited! February 20, 2011 A beautiful day, thought we'd give some baths and take some new shots of Juno and her son, Sir Walkabout. They, on the other hand, had much different ideas ... who can resist rolling in the sand immediately after getting a bath?? Certainly not this mom and son! (Makes you wonder why we bother, eh?) February 19, 2011 Juno was bred today to Arko III. The vet said the frozen semen was "lousy" quality but if anyone can ... Juno can! Fingers crossed! February 17, 2011 Miller Proof is proving to be a great first time mom after a difficult birth. Thank goodness both Millie and her gorgeous little girl, Elianah WS are doing great. Millie was checked out again today and all is good and she was bred to Stakkato Gold. February 14, 2011 HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY everyone! We're very happy ... EM Winessa's ultrasound showed a black dot (Benetton Dream)! February 13, 2011 Donnacina (Donnerhall x World Cup I) was bred today ... here's hoping for a San Amour pregnancy! February 5, 2011 Erika-West Danque was recognized for her accomplishments with EMC Ana Isabellah receiving Houston Dressage Society Championship awards in both training and first level. They are a fabulous team and we are very proud of them! Congratulations, Erika and Izzy! Special thanks to Lynda Langston for the photos and congratulations for 1st Level Schooling Show Championship with Kyra! Way to go, Lynda & Kyra!
February 4, 2011 We were on our way to the American Hanoverian Society Annual Meeting in Portland and the highways/tollways in Houston have been closed due to black ice. Five hours to get to/from the airport to find out our flight was canceled (you mean they didn't KNOW they were cancelling the flights until 5 minutes prior to boarding???). We are very disappointed but thrilled that EMC Ana Isabellah was the AHS Champion Materiale Winner, Mares and Fillies and the FEI Four Year Old Reserve Champion. February 3, 2011 The weather has been CRAZY ... single digits, wind, cold ... blankets on all the horses! Two years in a row with this crazy winter weather. Mother Nature needs serious mood swing meds! January 29, 2011 EM Winessa (DeNiro x Furioso II) was checked today and she was ready NOW to be bred so we "dropped off" Benetton Dream and will keep our fingers crossed. Our first mare to have "read the book" having been under lights through the winter. January 17, 2011 Our maiden mare, Miller Proof, certainly outdid herself with her pitch black, Escudo II, filly this morning (day 341). This filly is very feminine, elegant, black as black can be with just a bit of white on her hind left pastern with ermine spots (like an ankle bracelet). Very, very cute and we couldn't be happier! This wasn't the easiest delivery for this first time mom but they're both doing great! Maggie named her Elianah WS (Hebrew for God has Answered). January 11, 2011 We went to Florida on vacation (unfortunately, the weather was not the best but we got to spend some time with Ashley, Gary's daughter, and friends so that made the trip worthwhile). While we were gone, Maggie held down the Station. Our New Years Day foal, Sir Walkabout, GOT SO BIG while we were gone ... he is such an elegant, correct, a truly lovely colt at just 10 days old! January 1, 2011 HAPPY NEW YEAR! She did it again! Juno blessed us with a beautiful black colt this morning by Sir Donnerhall II, whom we've named Sir Walkabout. It's funny, she was bred on January 31, 2009 and Seltener Mond was foaled on January 1, 2010 (335 days) ... we then bred her back on January 31, 2010 and she's now proven to be one of those very consistent mares ... at exactly 335 days, this handsome young man has joined our family! What a wonderful way to start the New Year! Since he's a colt (darn it) ... he is for sale! |
