September 4-5, 2010  Hope everyone has a safe and healthy Labor Day weekend!  We'll be at the Laborious Day show in Conroe.  Izzy will be trying to qualify for 1st level.  Erika says she's up for the task so we'll see!  Chancellor will be showing Materiale as well so it'll be a great weekend.  Schedule is up and listed here: http://www.houstondressagesociety.org and if you need a map to get to the Lone Star Fairgrounds ... here's a link http://www.thelonestar.org/map-dir.htm

August 3, 2010  Seltener Mond was inspected by GOV at Canaan Ranch, Fulshear, TX today.  Hard to believe he's only seven months old, what a big boy ... with a fabulous temperament and a super mind!  He has been the most amazing colt at learning everything very quickly ... a really smart colt who will be missed!  CONGRATULATIONS Sharon and Mike!

August 1, 2010  Kareen sent new photos of Dancing Doubloon (Dancier x Warkant (Hohenstein)).  Many thanks compliments of Natascha for catching these great shots!  DD is a stunning young filly, she's almost 15 weeks old here!  Look at that stride and beautiful topline!  We're very happy with this her and LOVE THE BLING!

Dancing Doubloon - 15 weeks - nice movement!  Dancing Doubloon - 15 weeks - beautiful face!  Dancing Doubloon - 15 weeks - what's that smell??  Dancing Doubloon - 15 weeks - aren't I beautiful?

July 28, 2010  Home at last!  This has been an incredibly long trip ... and we couldn't have done it without Maggie who took especially good care of everyone while we were gone!  HUGE THANKS and KUDOS to Maggie for keeping everything running so smoothly that even the dogs barely missed us!

July 26, 2010  We are going home via Kentucky.  I can't tell you how long it took me to convince Gary that we "needed" to go through Kentucky to get back home to Texas from Illinois.  They don't call me geographically challenged for nothing!  Actually, there was a method to my madness.  We went to see Barbara Schmidt, DVM at Bridlewood Farm and pick up a new addition to our family!  Introducing Donnacina (Donnerhall x World Cup I (Lombard)) with her lovely Dacaprio filly.  Thanks, Judy for this opportunity ... we are thrilled to be able to add Donnacina to our small broodmare herd.

Gary, Erika & Izzy - after the awards ceremony!Erika & Izzy - 07/24/10

July 24, 2010  There was a horrible storm, lots of rain, flooded streets, Chicago even closed down a couple of their highways (if you can believe that??).  A tree actually came down on one of the show barns (no one hurt, thank goodness, but I suspect that Contester II was very happy to be moved).  So there was an hour delay in getting the Championships started and Izzy is first in the ring.  There is still standing water in the ring (they have done lots of hand raking trying to get it under control) but no worries, Izzy doesn't mind water.  Note: the big startled look and "shy" from Izzy is because someone climbed over the fence DURING the test (yes, the "climber" was blonde).  LOL  Fortunately, Izzy wasn't marked down for that!  This was a remarkable experience ... and we couldn't be happier!  Thanks to everyone in Team Izzy ... and CONGRATULATIONS to everyone who participated.  Great horses, great riders, great experience!

Besides this being a very exciting day for Team Izzy, many of Gary's family made it from Bloomington to watch the event.  What a huge bonus for us!  Talk about feeling the love!  These are just photos from my cell phone and I, unfortunately, didn't get everyone but here is Gary's sister, Diane who brought his Mom!  Will have to see if Gary's brothers Denny and David with his wife, Gail and son, Joshua have any photos to share.

July 23, 2010  Marilyn Kulifay a "r" judge from Houston stopped by for a cup of coffee while Erika was warming Ana Isabellah up at Lamplight!  Was so nice to see some friends from "home" while being at Lamplight ... and grateful for her offering Erika some last minute comments.  BIG day tomorrow!  Another friend, Jay'me Stevens (I'm from Chicago so this was like "going home" week) is also a farrier so she wanted to give Izzy a special "pedicure."  This is truly a labor of love because the weather is HORRIBLE to be sweating your fanny off doing this manual labor.  Not only that, but when she was done, she changed clothes and went on to scribe (NO, she was NOT a scribe for our class).  LOL

Marilyn Kulifay watching Erika warm up with Izzy!        Jay'me giving Izzy a fancy "pedicure" for her special day!

Izzy & Erika - 7/22/2010 - 4 Yr Old Warm Up Class July 22, 2010  The weather is dreadfully hot and humid, everyone is feeling like they're melting here at Lamplight ... but Erika kept her cool and rode Izzy beautifully.  We're so proud of them!  What a team!

Izzy "Are we there yet?"July 21, 2010  We've arrived at Lamplight!  We're so excited (and Izzy is SOOO glad to get out of the darned trailer!).  You can see she looks like she's saying "Are we there yet????"  Gary is unpacking and getting Izzy signed in, I'm running to the airport to pick up the rest of our team, Erika and Terri.  Erika will be presenting Izzy for the "jog," which she passed so viola ... first step down.  Next, pick up Sherry White, Graystone Farms (Izzy's breeder) from the train station.  Then the whole family is here!  GO TEAM IZZY!

July 19, 2010  HUGE thanks to our friends, Donna and Paul Chiocca for welcoming us (and Izzy too) to spend some time relaxing at their home before proceeding onwards to Lamplight!  WOW, it really gives us the warm fuzzies to know there are so many on board for Team Izzy!  What an amazing experience.

Izzy in the AHS News!July 19, 2010  The American Hanoverian Society - Summer 2010 - Quarterly Magazine has a little write up on Ana Isabellah!  (Click on the photo to see the article.)

July 18, 2010  It's been a long, long trip from Texas to Illinois but Ana Isabellah and Luna have been champs.  We delivered Luna to her new home (here's a photo that Nancy sent us while she was introducing Luna to more of her family).  Think they're happy?!  You bet!  Luna is going to be well loved with her new partner in life!

Luna with her "family!"

July 17-18, 2010  CONGRATS to Erika-West Danque with Chancellor (Juno's first born colt by Cathalido) at their first rated show held at Windy Knolls July 17 & July 18. Chancellor received a 77% on Saturday and a 79% on Sunday in 3 year old Materiale class. Way to go, Erika & Chancellor!  Great way to start his show career.

July 16, 2010  Better late than never ... Ana Isabellah has been invited to Lamplight in Wayne, IL for the 4 Yr Old Young Horse Division.  Truly an honor to be invited to participate with this exceptional group of Young Horses.  We'll be on the road 2 full days in 90+ degree weather and Izzy won't have much time to adjust once we get there, but she's been a real trooper through all this year and Erika says she's up for the task ... so Lamplight, here we come!

July 13, 2010  I love it when we get pictures of our "kids!" We imported our Oldenburg mare, Rosoenna, in 2006. Her first foal was a 2004 colt, Dabnino, by Don Gregory.  Today we received pictures of him (still in Germany) being ridden by Viola (16 yrs old) and placing in their first A Show.  He's 176 cm (which I think = 17.2hh).  Lovely pair, don't you think?! They emailed us to let us know what a lovely horse he is! CONGRATULATIONS, Detlef & Viola!

July 12, 2010  Good News - Dolce Rhosa 54 days in foal to Contucci ... ultrasound fetal sexed as a filly.  Bad News:  I'm very disappointed that EM Winessa (De Niro x Furioso II (Inschallah)) did not catch on her rebreeding to Harvard.  We're through breeding for the year.  It just gets too hot and humid in this part of Texas to have foals this late.  We'll put her under lights in November and ask the very accommodating stallion owner, David Burke, Pangaea Farms, to collect Harvard then.  Our Harvard x De Niro colt from this year, Hardinero WS, is an amazing package so a repeat breeding is a definite!

June 30, 2010  Ana Isabellah is a 3rd alternate for the 4 Yr Old Young Horse Division. We're very proud of her being in the top 20 in the country. It's been a great journey and Erika-West Danque has done an amazing job with her. CONGRATULATIONS to everyone ... great competition with very strong competitors!  To see final results, click here.

June 28, 2010  CONGRATULATIONS to Darlene and Channay in British Columbia on their purchase of Hardinero WS.  Hardy Boy will stay with us until after his Hanoverian inspection and weaning in October.  He will then be raised as a stallion prospect for their farm, Country Lane Farm.  We look forward to watching this young colt grow up!

EM Winessa with her 2 mos old colt, Hardinero (Harvard x DeNiro)June 24, 2010  We dropped Winessa and her two month old colt, Hardinero WS, at the vet's today for breeding back to Harvard.  She didn't ovulate last go round so we're trying one last time in 2010.  Special thanks to David Burke, Pangaea Farms, who is always so accommodating.  Now if only Winessa will just cooperate!

June 23, 2010  THIS IS SO NERVE WRACKING!  USEF has updated their standings and Ana Isabellah is tied for 14th place.  EEK!  Only the top 15 get invited and there is still one week left of qualifying shows!  So keep your fingers crossed and sending positive vibes so Erika & Izzy get invited to Lamplight!  To see updated results, click here.

June 22, 2010  Hardinero WS (Harvard x DeNiro (Furioso II)) will be two months old tomorrow!  What a beautiful boy he is!

June 18, 2010  We love getting updates on our "kids!"  Delmonico (Rosoenna's imported DiMaggio colt) has shown very well in his first "A" rated show.  Pictured below with his trainer Diana Hoberecht, he's grown up (over 17 hh) to be quite the dressage horse!  Thanks for sharing, Mary ... he does his mother proud!

June 14, 2010  We took Rosoenna in to have a fetal ultrasound and the foal was already too large (day 62) to get a good reading.  So the good news is ... she's pregnant!  We'll have to wait until next March to see if it's a colt or filly!

Erika-West Danque on Ana Isabellah, High Score Hanoverian, HDS Summer Show!High Score Ribbon for Izzy 01/24/2010

June 13, 2010  Izzy is the HDS Summer Shows I & II National Champion.  What a weekend for our 4 year old Ana Isabellah!  She was in a total of five classes during the two days of miserable, hot, humid temperatures in Katy, Texas and brought home five blue ribbons, amazing!!  Erika and Izzy won the Level 1-1 with a very respectable 72.667 and the T4 with 73.60!  WOW ... what a weekend!  Well done, Erika (and of course, Izzy)!  We are so very proud of both of you!  For complete results from the 13th ... click here!

June 12, 2010  Way to go, Team Izzy!  Erika-West Danque showed Ana Isabellah in three classes and brought home three blue ribbons plus the High Score National Champion and High Score Hanoverian!  We couldn't be happier.  Izzy scored a 76.6 in the 4 Year Old Young Horse Class (resulting in a 77.1 average ... fingers crossed that's enough to keep us in the top 15 to go to Lamplight in July), she earned a 73.8 in Materiale and a 74.80 in her T4 class.  For complete results from the 12th ... click here!

June 10, 2010  CONGRATULATIONS to Charne in South Africa on her purchase of Step by Step (Sandro Hit x Davignon) who is confirmed back in foal to Blue Hors Romanoff.  SbS will be a great addition to your breeding program, Charne!

June 3, 2010  We have been very bad about getting photos of our foals ... took a few impromptu shots of Hardinero WS (Harvard x DeNiro) when we brought Winessa back from Dr VanWagner's repro clinic.  We hosed them down after getting out of the trailer (it's VERY hot and humid here) so he's feeling a bit frisky!  Here's "Hardy Boy" at 44 days!

June 2, 2010  Good news!  Dolce Rhosa is officially 14 days in foal to Contucci!

June 2, 2010  USEF updated standings shows Ana Isabellah has remained in the top 15 for the USEF 4 YEAR OLD YOUNG HORSE so we hope to be invited to Lamplight for the Nationals in July.  Fingers crossed!  To see updated results, click here.

May 19, 2010  A double hitter today ... we bred Dolce Rhosa to Contucci and Ninja to Rubino BellisimoRosoenna's day 35 ultrasound shows a strong heartbeat so we go on the 14th of June for a fetal sexing ultrasound ... fingers crossed for a Donnerschlag filly!

May 17, 2010  More good news from Kareen in Germany!  Both Step by Step (bred back to Blue Hors Romanov) and Wakaluba (bred to Floriscount) have been confirmed in foal!  What good girls (and a great vet)!

May 14, 2010  CONGRATULATIONS to Drs. Kim & Steve VanWagner ... they are the proud parents of a healthy, 7# 9oz baby boy!  Baby Garrett joins big sister, Hailey and big brother Tyler!

Nancy and Luna - it's LOVE!

May 14, 2010  CONGRATULATIONS to Nancy in Illinois on her purchase of Luna ... they will make great partners in riding and life!

May 14, 2010  We love it when Kareen has a chance to take photos (and a special thanks to Alexandra Fischer for all her help).  Here is Royal Fortune (Blue Hors Romanov x Sandro Hit (Davignon)) at 5 weeks old.  We have a contract on Step by Step so we will retain this filly for our breeding program.

May 14, 2010  Here's Dancing Doubloon (Dancier x Warkant (Hohenstein)) at three weeks.  Wakaluba is a great mom and DD is a beautiful filly ... with oh so much bling ... truly kissed by the foal marking fairy with all that white!  "WOW"  Built uphill, great topline and picture perfect!

May 12, 2010  The American Hanoverian Magazine ran an article on the winners of The Dr. Walter Hartwig Prize for the Best North American-bred Young Mare award.  Izzy is the 2009 Reserve Champion!  To read article ... click here!  Here's a couple photos of Izzy in September, 2009 with her rider/trainer Erika-West Danque riding.  They've come a long way and we're very proud of both Erika and Izzy!  They are a great team!

May 4, 2010  Wakaluba was bred to the very popular, up and coming stallion Floriscount today!  Kareen said it was all textbook, gotta love those mares who know how to read!  J  Kareen LOVES the foals that she has seen this year by Floriscount.  Sounds like a great recommendation to me!

May 3, 2010  We LOVE Winessa's new colt, Hardeniro, by Harvard and decided to repeat the breeding.  We have been very fortunate this year to be able to work with stallion owners that have gone above and beyond the call of duty to accommodate us.  Many things are out of our control like courier problems or the mares not ovulating "by the book," and breeder's know that breeding is definitely NOT for the faint of heart.  All that being said, David Burke, Pangaea Farms, went to great extremes to facilitate us!  Winessa is ready today, Monday, and David collected and drove the Harvard semen to the Toronto airport (over 2 hours one way from his farm) to get it to a plane so we could inseminate our mare tonight!  WOW, now that's impressive service to say the least.  We have explained all of this to Winessa so hopefully we'll see the little black dot in two weeks!  J

May 3, 2010  We are so pleased with our Blue Hors Romanov filly in Germany, Royal Fortune, by Step by Step (Sandro Hit x Davignon) that we bred SbS back to Romanov today.

We want to add a BIG THANK YOU to our equine vets for always being there for us.  Kareen Heineking-Schütte, DVM of German Horse Connection has taken care of our horses as if they were her own.  This gives us great peace of mind, especially since they're in Germany, to know that they're in such good and capable hands.

Steve VanWagner, DVM, MS of Vet Hospital of New Waverly has spent many a night taking care of our horses and always goes the extra mile (he is ultra sounding Winessa today, SUNDAY)!  His wife, Kim VanWagner, DVM is our small animal vet and is "with child" (due any day now) so they truly have their hands full.  An extra thanks and many blessings to Dr. Steve and Dr. Kim!

Dancing Doubloon - 1 week old and BEAUTIFUL!May 1, 2010  Wakaluba's week old filly, Dancing Doubloon (Dancier x Warkant (Hohenstein)) at one week.  Bright, alert and cute as cute can be!

April 30, 2010  Our very extravagant moving, Dolce Rhosa, was bred today ... to the rising star, Benetton Dream.  Exciting!  Maiden mare, frozen semen ... fingers crossed!

April 28, 2010  We took Rosoenna (Rosier x Werner 07) in for her ultrasound to see if we could find the little black dot!  Well, we found TWO dots!  So we pinched one and will take her back next week to make sure that the other dot is growing!  We're very excited about this Donnerschlag foal!

April 27, 2010  USEF has updated their standings and it appears that Izzy has qualified in the USEF 4 YEAR OLD YOUNG HORSE and we will be invited to Lamplight for the Nationals in July.  Only the top 15 get invited and so far, Izzy is 7th in the country!  WOW!  What a privilege and honor!  To see updated results, click here.  We're very excited and couldn't be happier!  HUGE congrats to our trainer and rider, Erika-West Danque, who has done an amazing job with our 4 year old Ana Isabellah!

April 27, 2010  Kareen has been busy taking photos of our lovely Dancing Doubloon (Dancier x Warkant (Hohenstein)).  Here she is ... 3 days old and strutting her stuff!  What a fancy filly she is and Wakaluba is a perfect mom!

Dancing Doubloon - 3 days young!    Just too cute! DD at 3 days old!    Curious, alert and cute, cute, cute!    Wahoo ... What fun for a 3 day old filly!

April 26, 2010  We were traveling all weekend in two different directions so our first order of business was to spend a little time with our yet to be named Harvard x Winessa (DeNiro x Furioso II (Inschallah)) colt.  He was born just before we were leaving so after making sure all was well, we hit the road.  He is a stunner at all of 3 days old!

High Score Ribbon for Izzy 01/24/2010April 25, 2010  Izzy is the HDS Spring Classic II - April 25 National Reserve Champion.  Izzy won in her first L1-1 test today with 68% and earned a second place ribbon for her score of 72% in T-4.  What a weekend this has been for Izzy and Erika.  A real bonus ... Gary got to share in the rewards when Izzy was High Score Champion (75.2% on April 23rd) and received the Hedley Lamberty Owner's Award, sponsored by Anna Burtell, for 2010.  What an honor!  Thank you!  For complete results from the 25th ... click here!

April 24, 2010  Izzy is the HDS Spring Classic I - April 23-24 National Champion.   Both of our "girls" participated in the USEF 4 YEAR OLD YOUNG HORSE-QUALIFYING FINALE CLASS on Saturday and Izzy won with a 77.6% and Rhosa finished fourth with 66.2%.  We are proud to bursting!  Izzy has been amazing and considering this is Rhosa's first venture into the world of showing, she's doing great!  A HUGE thanks to our trainer, Erika-West Danque for doing such a great job with our girls.  For complete results from the 24th ... click here!

April 24, 2010  Kareen called to tell us we have a lovely chestnut Dancier filly with loads of bling (full white blaze, four white legs).  I jokingly told her that we'll have to double check her DNA since Wakaluba and Dancier are both black.  Odds were definitely against us having a chestnut but I'm sure you'll agree ... she's BEAUTIFUL!  Mother and filly are doing great and we are thrilled with our new addition!  Staying with Kareen's pirate theme for the 2010 foals, we have named her Dancing Doubloon!

Houston Dressage SocietyApril 23, 2010  Gary has taken Izzy and Rhosa to the HDS Spring Show at Katy.  Unfortunately, I have to travel in a different direction but it looks like "Team Walkabout" is doing just fine!  Left to right, Dolce Rhosa, Erika-West Danque, Gary Marquardt, Lindsay Myers and Ana Isabellah preparing for their first class together, Materiale!  This was Rhosa's first show and she won her first blue ribbon with a respectable 70.1% and Izzy was second with a 67.1%.  BIG thanks to Erika and Lindsay.

April 23, 2010  Right on schedule, day 341, EM Vb Pr St Winessa (DeNiro x Furioso II (Inschallah)) had a lovely, leggy Harvard colt this morning!  Gary is already at the horse show in Katy with Izzy and Rhosa so this is the first birth that he missed.  He is disappointed but everything went perfectly.  Sorry for the poor picture quality but Gary has the cameras with him at the show (so these aren't too bad for cell phone images at dawn).  It's 6am and not much light but you get the idea.  Since this is a colt, he will be for sale.

April 21, 2010  No courier dramas this shipment so the Rubino Bellisimo semen arrived on time AND Ninja cooperated with a double ovulation so we'll find out in two weeks if there's the little black dot (fingers crossed)!

April 19, 2010  After our second attempt to determine if Miller Proof is pregnant with a colt or filly, we just couldn't get a good (ultrasound) picture ... so it must be a filly and she's just modest.  J

April 14, 2010  After all the courier dramas we've had this year in getting fresh cooled semen delivered on time, it's no surprise that Ninja isn't pregnant.  We're disappointed but will try again the end of next week.  The fetal ultrasound on Miller Proof was not definitive so we'll take her back in a few days to see if we can get a better view.

April 13, 2010  OK, trying again!  Rosoenna was bred with fresh cooled (Donnerschlag) semen.

Gary, Selten (4 mos) with new owner Sharon! CONGRATS!April 11, 2010  CONGRATULATIONS to Sharon & Michael White on their purchase of Seltener Mond (Starlight x Columbus).  It was love at first sight for Dr. Sharon Andrews-White when she met Selten ... and today with the blessings of her husband, Michael, Selten has joined their family.  We will be very happy to follow their show career ... in the meantime, Selten will stay with us while he grows up!

April 5, 2010  Photo on (below left) shows Maggie watching Steve VanWagner, DVM, MS ultrasound Juno (Vet Tech, Kay, has her back to the camera).  As you can see from the photo on the (below) right J it's a Sir Donnerhall II COLT!  This is Juno's fourth pregnancy and will be her fourth colt!  Now we only have to wait nine more months to meet the little guy!

Maggie is saying "are you sure it's a colt?!" LOL            SEE?? There's Juno's colt (by Sir Donnerhall II)

March 30, 2010  Kareen took these photos when Royal Fortune was up and about ... just a few hours old.  This is a breeding worth repeating!  Thanks Kareen ... keep the photos coming ... I'm in LOVE!

March 30, 2010  Wahoo!  Kareen called with great news and sent us these brand new pictures of our new addition all gift wrapped (she arrived around 5:30am)!  Our mare in Germany, Step by Step (Sandro Hit x Davignon (Werther)) had a beautiful dark bay filly by Blue Hors Romanov (Rohdiamant x Grundstein II (Akzent II)) this morning!  Yes, I said FILLY!  I'm so excited ... we have been colt heavy for the last 3 years so having a filly is very exciting!  In staying with Kareen's "Pirates of the Caribbean theme" for this year, we have named her Royal Fortune (a famous pirate ship).  Difficult theme for a filly!

Kareen is so clever, she taped ... Please Be Patient I Am Only Two ... onto Fly High's halter!

Gary on left meeting our newest addition, Fly High! Please Be Patient I Am Only TwoMarch 29, 2010  She's arrived ... after a very long week of travel, quarantine, planes and trailers, Fly High has arrived home!  Kareen is so clever, she taped this message to her halter (GREAT idea!) so that everyone who handled her in transit was aware she is still a youngster!

Gary (left) went into the trailer to introduce himself to our new addition, Fly High and help Fredo (blue shirt) from Equine Express bring Fly High off the trailer.  Fredo told us that Fly High was very well behaved in the trailer, just like a "big" girl!  Welcome home, Fly High and THANK YOU, KAREEN for all you do!  She's beautiful!!

Fly High checking out her new home!        Hmmm ... what's that?        Fly High - Just off trailer - 3/29/2010

March 27, 2010  Lots of (courier) dramas but we finally got Ninja bred to Rubino Bellisimo on Saturday.  We're very excited about this "marriage" which should be a wonderful cross.

Fly High leaving Germany - almost 2 years old - Thank you, Kareen!March 23, 2010  Our horses in Germany are well taken care of by Kareen Heineking-Schütte, DVM of German Horse Connection.  Kareen is also the breeder of our filly, Fly High (Florencio x Hohenstein (Perser xx)).  Kareen took this photo as she's getting Fly High ready to leave Germany.  We are anxiously awaiting her clearing quarantine the end of the week.  Thank you Claire, from Dutta Corp., for calling to let us know Fly High has arrived safely in New York!

March 23, 2010  Rosoenna was bred with fresh cooled (Donnerschlag) semen since we're not having much luck with frozen.  We're excited!  Fortunately, Fed Ex didn't lose the container (again!).  A special thanks to Dyke and Sue Curry Shaffer for going the extra mile to accommodate us!

March 10, 2010  We got lucky today, the rains missed us and we actually had some sun ... so took a few more photos and video of Widget in the pasture.  He is so modern and elegant, great movement, super legs and lots of forward motion.  Two more weeks and Widget will be 2 years old (March 24th)!

March 9, 2010  We received our Winter 2009/2010 issue of "The American Hanoverian" magazine today.  A big thanks the inspectors, George Walker and Vanessa Carlson, for their write ups on the inspections.  Our inspection was at Creek Colony Ranch in Richmond, Texas and if you'd like to read the article, please click here.

March 8, 2010  Miller Proof has been released to the pregnant pen ... there is a fetal heartbeat so next visit will be in mid April to see if we can do a fetal sexing!  That's so exciting!

Sirius - March 7, 2010 (click photo for larger image)March 6, 2010  Finally, we're having some pleasant weather, the fields are starting to dry up, the sun is shining and the horses are enjoying the Spring-like weather.  We've had several requests for updated videos on our sale horses but this is just not the best time of year to be taking photos ... they're fuzzy wuzzies with their winter coats on and the round pen is a mess.  So we're working at it.  In the meantime, here's Sirius (updated still photos towards the bottom of his page) and Widget being silly in the pasture ... just some fun stuff!

March 2, 2010  Rosoenna was rebred to San Amour so let's hope that two is a charm and she catches!  (Fingers crossed!)Seltener Mond - 2 mos old (click photo for larger image)

March 1, 2010  Seltener Mond was born on the 1st of January.  We've been traveling and he seems to have grown by leaps and bounds just in the week we've been gone!  They are just too cute at this age and he is truly Mr. Personality!

March 1, 2010  We took Rosoenna, Miller Proof and Juno back for their vet checks.  Good news for Miller Proof ... she is pregnant (Escudo II) and we'll take her back next week to see if there's a heartbeat.  Gary is very excited about that cross ... should be a very athletic foal.  Unfortunately, Rosoenna did not take so we're trying again with San Amour.  There was a heartbeat with Juno (Sir Donnerhall II) so her next trip to the vet will be April 5th to see if we can do a fetal sexing exam ... now how cool is that?

HAPPY 21ST BIRTHDAY ASHLEY! We love you!

February 28, 2010  We just returned from a week in Florida where we attended a mini family reunion and celebrated Ashley's 21st birthday!  Was hoping we'd have better weather to enjoy the Florida sites but we had a good time in spite of the weather!

February 26, 2010  Gary's daughter, Ashley, is 21 years old today!  HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ASHLEY!

February 20, 2010  CONGRATULATIONS to Eric & Karen on their purchase of our lovely Miss Miller (pictured right with her 2009 colt, Wolkenbruck)!  She's a truly wonderful mare and super mother going to a great home ... fortunately they are close enough that we can visit!

February 19, 2010  We just received a few photos of Sergeant Major (Sir Donnerhall x Rosier) who is Rosoenna's first US born colt (pictured left, his second time with someone on his back).  Art & Kathy couldn't be happier with his development, disposition, work ethic, brain, etc., etc., etc.  Needless to say, we are thrilled to hear all these wonderful comments about Sergeant Major!

February 17, 2010  It's always nice to follow our youngsters as they mature.  Delmonico (DiMaggio) was our first imported colt out of our lovely Rosier mare, Rosoenna.  Delmonico is a little over 3 years old in this photo.  He and his owner, Mary, make a lovely team (photo right), don't they?  We will watch their show career with great interest!

February 15, 2010  CONGRATS to Juno ... we saw the black dot this morning on her ultrasound.  What a good girl and a great start to our breeding season!

February 12, 2010  It is Valentine's Day weekend and so far, so good with our 2010 breeding plans.  We hadn't bred most of our mares last year so we could put them under lights to breed early in the year (our summers are dreadfully hot and humid).  It seems that Rosoenna also "read the book" and has now been bred to San Amour.  Fingers crossed, the "S" line has been a very successful cross with Rosoenna so we have high hopes!

February 9, 2010  The weather has certainly been a challenge ... the poor East Coast has been buried in snow.  Mother Nature certainly has been on a rampage.  There was a little weather related drama for us waiting for semen to inseminate Miller Proof but it was finally located and she was bred to Escudo II.

January 31, 2010  Juno was bred to Sir Donnerhall II ... fingers crossed that we see a black dot when we go back to our repro vet on the 15th!

January 29, 2010  CONGRATULATIONS to Sherry White, Graystone Farms, breeder of our very own Ana Isabellah for being recognized for The Dr. Walter Hartwig Prize for the Best North American-bred Young Mare award.  Izzy is the 2009 Reserve Champion!  Way to go, Sherry!

High Score Ribbon for Izzy 01/24/2010

Houston Dressage SocietyJanuary 23-24, 2010  Houston Dressage Society Winter Shows I & II were held at the Great Southwest Equestrian Center, Katy, TX.  We took Ana Isabellah "Izzy" to compete in T-4 and Young Horse classes and Dolce Rhosa went along for her first taste of schooling.  We were very proud of both of our girls!  Rhosa handled the commotion well, some calling when Izzy went in to 'work' but all in all, she was really good about the whole showing thing.  When it was her turn to get lunged and ridden, she was wide eyed but nothing dramatic, thank goodness!

Izzy was just amazing, earning four blue ribbons in her four classes ... plus High Score Champion!  Her T-4 on Saturday was respectable at 66.8 and 70.0% on Sunday.  Izzy and Erika did great on their first "YOUNG HORSE TEST OF CHOICE" earning (Saturday) 72.2 and (Sunday) 75.2.  BIG thanks and congratulations to Erika-West Danque, she's doing a great job with Izzy and makes us very proud!  For complete results, click here.

Brrrr - everyone blanketed to go outside! (click photo for larger image)

Just a week old and already his foal blanket is too small!

January 8, 2010  I know that many of you are going through very inclement weather wherever you may reside.  Where we are, it's typically very warm and mild throughout the winter (and much too hot/humid through the summer).  Mother Nature has other plans this year and we're going through heavy freeze, extreme cold for this area (we're in the single digits).  I know that's nothing by comparison to many regions but for here ... that's just plain cold!  So Selten has his first blanket ... as does everyone else (looks like a rainbow of horses going out to pasture!).  Now how cute this he?  Really a nice, nice colt ... full of energy, inquisitive, friendly and enjoying life!

January 5, 2010  BIG thanks to our friend, Stephanie Law for coming up with the perfect name for our new Starlight colt ... Seltener Mond (translates to Rare Moon in German).

Brand new!3 hrs new!January 1, 2010  WOW!  We've had the best start to the New Year!  Juno gifted us with a beautiful, black Starlight (the 2008 Devon Triple Crown Champion) colt with two hind socks about 9am on New Years Day!  Born during the Blue Moon (which is obviously a full moon) and on the first day of the New Year!  Indeed, a very special Oldenburg colt ... it must have been in the "stars!"  Blessed with a textbook birth ... no complications and even at a reasonable hour (although Gary and I were a bit sleep deprived since she's been showing signs for a couple of days).  He was probably the quickest foal we've ever had about getting up and walking around ... very bright, alert and Rick Rockefeller-Silvia (Starlight's owner when we bred Juno) says he looks just like Starlight (we can but hope, eh?).  Mom and son are doing great ... and now for the difficult part ... finding an appropriate "S" name!  LOL ... suggestions welcomed!

Izzy's brow band (click photo for larger image)We wanted to share with you a couple of gifts we got for our show girls, Izzy and Rhosa.  When Izzy qualified in 2009 for the SWDC and Regionals in one weekend, we splurged and purchased a custom browband for her.  Gary insisted that it not be fussy and Rhosa's brow band (click photo for larger image)Jayne Schneiderhan of HPF Designs made the perfect browband for Izzy (pictured left).

We liked Izzy's so much that we had Jayne design another browband for Rhosa (right).  It reminds me of old fashioned rock candy ... simply stunning.  If you are in the market for a special, new browband, email Jayne.  We're very happy with ours!

Happy New Year!
